Make “ADULT” Time Part of Your Daily Routine

Children synchronize to our stress. Taking care of you, is taking care of your child. That’s why it is important that you establish 15-20 minutes during the day to connect (Preferably in person or via phone) with your partner or another key adult in your life. Guard it fiercely.

It may be the first 20-30 minutes after the children go to bed at night, or before they wake in the morning. It could be a phone call during children’s nap time. It doesn’t matter when it is, as long as it occurs. This is the time to share how you are feeling. What you need. What’s going well. What’s not going so well. What changes need to be made.

Daily communication allows you to address problems when they are little and easier to tackle.
